Making a transition into a new field of work can be overwhelming. The Full Stack Developer program helps individuals from a variety of backgrounds learn to code and learn to program to build a career the technology sector. To support our learners on their journey to becoming coders, programmers, designers, and developers, we are seeking experienced professionals to take them under their wing and show them the ropes.
What a mentorship relationship looks like;
A six-month commitment to one or more of our learners.
Meeting or connecting at least once a month. (Meetings could be face-to-face, phone conversations, or online exchanges.)
Sharing your experiences working in the technology field (opportunities, challenges, emerging trends, finding employment, etc.).
Providing guidance, support, encouragement, and feedback to learners. The program is an intense six months and connecting with others who have been where they are can help a learner keep momentum when they feel overwhelmed or discouraged.
Helping your mentee connect with industry. This could include;
inviting or going with your mentee to a networking event,
introducing your mentee to other technology professionals, or
sharing employment opportunities that you come across that may be a fit for your mentee.
We currently have a group of learners who are seeking mentors, and have a group of 30-40 more learners starting in February 2019.

When it comes to learning any new skill, there are always bumps along the way. We have a full-time dedicated tech lead for our Full Stack Developer program, but there are times when our learners really benefit from some extra one-on-one support.
What tutoring looks like;
Being paired up with one or a small group of learners.
Connecting with learners and helping them learn to code, understand logic, learn programming, design web applications, test code they have developed, etc.
Tutoring can be done face-to-face in our classroom or online using a virtual tool (i.e. Google hangouts, Skype, etc.) The program runs Monday thru Friday from 9 am - 4 pm, however, many of our learners need support outside the core programs hours on evenings and weekends. So any time that you are available we can make work.
